The Oceans Program works to find constructive solutions to the most critical problems threatening the world's marine environments. At the national, regional, and international levels, our team of scientists, attorneys and economists are working with fishermen to establish fair and sensible limits on their catch that will allow fisheries to recover. EDF's Oceans Program works to improve the health of the oceans via innovative and durable solutions to today's toughest fishery management challenges. Our Oceans Program has focused on fisheries in the waters of the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean and Europe and is beginning to implement its strategy to influence fisheries reform globally to ensure more fish in the water, more food on the plate, and more prosperous communities.
The Project Manager and Systems Liaison will work with the Oceans Program Operations team and report to the Associate Vice President, Oceans to establish and implement appropriate planning, accountability and project management systems, with a particular focus on using systems to enhance and streamline these processes. The Project Manager will work closely with program staff at all levels to effectively and efficiently use technological systems to streamline and enhance their work while finding synergies and opportunities for process improvements. This will include back-office functions as well as ways to plan, measure and report on programmatic outcomes. The Project Manager will interface with other EDF teams including Development, HR and Finance and be the program's liaison to IT to ensure collaboration and smooth functioning across our units. The successful candidate will be organized, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be comfortable communicating across levels and internal departments.
Lead the maintenance and further refinement of a central, online information sharing and project management platform (Podio) to ensure it continues to meet the changing needs of our program work. Assist other programs and departments interested in utilizing the system to understand its functions and help them get started with implementation.
Support the Oceans Management Team and program managers in developing necessary tracking tools and documents to foster project flow and efficiency, utilize system analytics and reporting to improve decision-making and help ensure grant milestones and programmatic objectives are met.
Support onboarding of new hires regarding Ocean's operations, systems, and processes.
Help program staff through adoption of a new enterprise system that EDF will be rolling out through the next 1-2 years. Work with IT staff and ERP team to coordinate program staff participation in trainings. Communicate with IT to match system features and functions to program needs and support staff in using system effectively to create efficiencies and productivity in their work.
Apply excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills by responding to requests for information, helping to coordinate activities and projects for the team and preparing correspondence and reports as needed.
Conduct process analysis and identify opportunities for improvement in grants management, budget planning and forecasting, contract management, workforce planning and overall operations. Work with IT to develop templates, workflows and use other system functions to support these processes.
Collaborate with other departments such as Finance, Development, and HR as needed; serve as point person with EDF's IT department, tracking and communicating about system updates and program needs.
Anticipate challenges, ask questions, proactively work to enhance program operations capabilities and address challenges; developing knowledge of program goals, vision, and activities.

Bachelor's degree required and 4+ years of relevant experience or advance degree with 2+ years of experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with all programs/departments in the organization and with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and to represent the team in a highly professional manner.
Strong project management skills and knowledge of the use of related systems and tools such as SmartSheets, Podio, Asana, etc. and ability to learn new systems in a fast-paced environment; experience with enterprise resource solutions a plus.
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of small teams in a dynamic and creative environment, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and comfortable communicating with non-tech and tech realms.
Research, analytical, and writing skills required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, problem-solve, and prioritize work. Ability to work with program and IT staff to help develop relevant reports and dashboards to support program goals and decision-making.
Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy. Must be comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information.
Strong customer service mindset and patience with end users.
Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software applications.
Interest and/or experience in environmental advocacy and ocean issues preferred.
Experience with global NGOs and grant reporting a plus.
